While I struggled with the writing style for a significant portion of the book, this was a fun book with an interesting cast of characters! I really enjoyed how twisty the final 30% or so of the novel got, and I thought the magic system was well-designed, and found the concept of codexes and how they manifested to be one of the stronger parts of this novel’s world-building.
Overall, I’m not sure if I’ll pick up the next volume, but I’m glad to have spent some time in this fictional world.
