The Nudge is a horror novella told through a conversation between a hotel guest and the employee showing him to his room for the night, as the guest reveals what brought him to this place.
This is best read in a single sitting if possible, and is compulsively readable. I’m familiar with Fink’s work mainly through the Welcome to Nightvale podcast, and this novella holds the same tone in a way that let me effortlessly fall into the story.
As the story unraveled I started to get the sense that there was more going on than what was on the surface, but I was still caught off guard by the plot twist. I think this is a story where the less you know about it going in, the better.
I’m looking forward to picking up a physical copy for my shelf, and grabbing the audiobook version as well when it publishes!
