Review: It Will Be More Beautiful Than You Could Ever Imagine By Christina Amini (Release 08/11/2026)

I received an E-ARC of this novel from the publisher through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It Will Be More Beautiful Than You Could Ever Imagine is an in-depth look at artist Susan O’Malley’s work and the ways the spirit of that work and the work itself live on after her passing in 2015. It collects photos of her work on display, with segments about those works and eras of her career written by her collaborators, colleagues, and friends. Whether you’re at all familiar with her work or not, this is an accessible look at an artist whose optimism and belief in engaging everyone with art have shaped an enduring legacy.

What a moving tribute to Susan’s art and life. I’m deeply grateful to have gotten to learn more about her work and the Social Practice movement through the eyes of those who worked with her and loved her. What a beautiful legacy to leave, to be spoken about with this much affection and care a decade after your passing, and for there to be so much proof in the world of the lives you’ve touched.

This is a rallying call to optimism in these dark times. May we all be blessed enough to learn to view the world the way Susan knew it could be, the way she believed it was. I’m thankful to those who contributed to this book for sharing Susan with us all, even though she isn’t around to share herself with us anymore.
