In the same way that the novel version of Rebel’s release was bittersweet, the release of this book is also bittersweet for me. Seeing the graphic novel run come to a close really feels like putting the final punctuation on Day and June’s story. Rebel is book four in the Legend series, but it’s also set far enough into these character’s futures that if you picked the series up here, with what is truly Eden’s story, there’s enough context clues to fill in the most vital pieces of Day, Eden, and June’s backgrounds.
As a die-hard fan of the author and the series, my only hope for this graphic novel was that it would do the epilogue justice, and it absolutely does. To get to see their happy ending rendered on the page this way means everything to me. I’m so thankful to have gotten to revisit these characters post-Champion, and get to see what a future after the war is won looks like for them. This was a great adaptation of the final chapter of this story.
