Love Felt Like This is a fun, sweet romance between a single dad rockstar and the children’s showrunner trying to revive her grandfather’s beloved show after funding has run out to keep the puppetry workshop afloat. Their relationship starting as fake dating for the press because he respected her too much to see Beau make her feel the need to shrink was such an interesting framing and I wish that more had been done with it overall. I found the small town setting sweet, and this book absolutely made me crave pancakes.
Ava was a sweet addition to the story, even if sometimes the way she acted didn’t quite seem to fit her established age. I really enjoyed her escapades in befriending Steak the cat. All of the side characters felt real and well-rounded, and I came to care for Bethany’s entire family. I struggled a bit in the middle of the book with why Beverly and Griffin weren’t able to get together yet and the ending and epilogue felt extremely rushed. Overall, I loved their chemistry and seeing them slowly come to accept that they’d both almost immediately fallen for each other. This was a fun, cozy, book perfect to curl up with this fall.
